Two Sisters Make First Profession in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ Congregation
In a spirit-filled and solemn celebration held on August 7, 2025, the Religious Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ (IHM), joyfully welcomed two new sisters who made their First Profession of Vows. The sacred ceremony took place at St. John the Evangelist, Holy Ghost Parish – Karen, and was presided over by His Grace Most Rev. Philip Anyolo, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Nairobi.
The two sisters, Sr. Maria Chikaodinaka Okoro (IHM) and Sr. Maria Chizurum Ukeje (IHM), publicly professed their vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience — marking their formal entry into the religious life and deeper commitment to serve God and humanity through the charism of their congregation.
The event drew together members of the IHM congregation, clergy, family, friends, and faithful from various parts of Kenya and beyond. The celebration was marked by vibrant liturgy, hymns of dedication, and heartfelt joy from all present.
In his homily, Archbishop Anyolo emphasized the courage and beauty of consecrated life in today’s world. He called upon the faithful to continue praying for vocations and to support those who dedicate their lives in service to the Gospel.
The IHM Sisters, founded with a mission to promote the dignity of the human person through education, health care, and pastoral ministry, continue to inspire many by their witness and service across the globe.
The First Profession is an important milestone in the journey of religious formation. After this profession, the sisters will continue their spiritual and pastoral formation as they prepare for their final vows in the coming years.
We celebrate Sr. Maria Chikaodinaka and Sr. Maria Chizurum as they step boldly into their divine calling, and we pray that the Lord who began this good work in them will bring it to fulfillment.
